Dr. Darron Turner joined Chancellor Victor J. Boschini's administrative cabinet as chief university inclusion officer & Title IX coordinator at Texas Christian University (TCU) in November 2016. He was later named senior advisor to the chancellor. He is responsible for strategic direction, providing leadership and vision in all aspects of diversity, inclusion and Title IX. In conjunction with Admissions, Human Resources and the Office of Provost, among other units, he works to expand efforts to recruit a diverse student body and focuses on policies and practice, as well as issues management.
He previously spent 22 years in the Division of Student Affairs, where he was responsible for Inclusiveness and Intercultural Services, International Student Services, Community Engagement, Veteran Services, Community Scholars and Student Affairs Assessment. Along with his duties in Student Affairs, he served as the affirmative action and equal employment officer for the university. He regularly presents on topics of diversity and inclusion and has served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Turner holds a bachelor's degree in social Work from TCU, a master's degree in human relations and business from Amberton University (TX), and a doctorate in educational leadership from TCU.
Turner will address the Professional Development Luncheon (open to all professional staff and graduate students) at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
