NACA Mid Atlantic

The NACA® Mid Atlantic Region is made up of the following states & territories:

  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • New Jersey
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • metro Washington DC
  • Ontario
Regional Leadership Team Structure

These seven teams (one for each region) are comprised of up to 33 school member volunteers at all levels (undergraduate students, graduate students, and professional staff) and one AAG representative, in addition to Leadership Fellows within the region and liaisons from several national teams and advisory groups. The RLTs work to advance the mission and vision of the association by creating year-round meaningful member engagement and education opportunities. Additionally, regions where a NACA conference is located assist with the planning of that conference.

Individual Awards

Unsung Hero Award

The NACA® Mid Atlantic “Unsung Hero” award is given to an undergraduate student from a college/university or associate member agency who has made positive contributions to student activities on their campus and/or the Mid Atlantic Region. The award recognizes and celebrates those who have successfully made an impact on student, campus, and community life through their work on campus.

Excellence in Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility Award

This award recognizes a program or organization that has demonstrated the ability to organize, lead, engage, and advocate for civic engagement and social responsibility that impacts the lives of students and their campus community.

Outstanding DEIA Achievement Award

NACA is committed to diversity and inclusion efforts in programming. This award recognizes an individual that exhibits the greatest commitment to increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility awareness and education within the region.

Student Leader Award

The NACA® Mid Atlantic Region encourages active involvement in the region by undergraduate students. We realize that undergraduate student leaders are the heartbeat of campus activities and this award honors up to three undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership, citizenship and cooperation as well as demonstrating an impact in student activities on their campuses.

Outstanding Paraprofessional Award

The Outstanding Paraprofessional Award will honor a graduate student who demonstrates commitment to both their current position and graduate education. The award will recognize a graduate student currently advising in the field of campus activities at a NACA member institution.

New Professional Award

One of the goals of the Regional Leadership Team is to welcome new members into the NACA® Mid Atlantic Region and to encourage their involvement by recognizing their contributions. The NACA® Mid Atlantic Outstanding New Professional Award demonstrates the leadership team’s continuing commitment to maintaining the growth and vitality of the Region. It is to be given when deemed appropriate, to a full-time professional staff member who has worked in the campus activities field 5 years or less.

Outstanding Associate Member

The NACA® Mid Atlantic region recognizes the commitment of its associate members and the role that associate members play in the development of student leaders. The Outstanding Associate Member Award is a way to recognize the leadership and dedication of an associate member agency or individual.

Dr. Thomas E. Matthews Award for Outstanding Professional

The Outstanding Professional Award will be presented to a professional staff member from a NACA member institution.

  • Has been employed as a professional staff member in the field of student affairs for longer than five years. 
  • Has demonstrated commitment to the profession through work both at his/her institution and through professional organizations.
  •  Is viewed by colleagues as an educator. 
  • Displays genuine support and regard for students. Involvement in and contributions to the regional NACA. Involvement in and contribution to the field of campus activities.
  • Nominees must be currently employed as a full-time (at least 9 months/year) professional staff member at a college or university
Programming Awards

Programming Awards Overview

The Outstanding Program Awards will be presented to a college/university program that demonstrates creativity, innovation, and appeal to a diverse body of students. Awards will be presented to programs in each of the five following categories. If a category has no nominations, the committee reserves the right not to give an award in that category.

Each programming award will be awarded to one school from each of the two separate categories:

  • Lower Budget (<$50K for school board budget)
  • Higher Budget ($50k+ for school board budget)

Mid Atlantic Spirit Award

The NACA® Mid Atlantic Spirit Award is given to one delegation, regardless of delegation size or composition, that exhibits school spirit through their involvement, programs, social media, and more.



 

Excellence in Leadership Programming Award

This award recognizes a program that demonstrates exceptional leadership to their campus. The program exhibits growth and transformation for students involved.



 

Outstanding DEIA Achievement Award

NACA is committed to diversity and inclusion efforts in programming. This award recognized a campus program that exhibits the greatest commitment to increasing diversity awareness and education.



 

Outstanding Community Impact Award

This award recognizes a student organization that has demonstrated innovation and perseverance as they have worked to build community. The organization has utilized multiple forms of engagement to help members build connections with one another and the campus community.

Campus Traditions Award

The Campus Traditions Award recognizes programs that are traditional in nature and are sponsored by a program board or activities office.

Social Program of the Year Award

The outstanding program of the year recognizes a program, virtual and in person, sponsored by a program board or activities office that has significantly impacted campus life and generated substantial interest in the campus community.

Programming Board of the Year Award

The Outstanding Program Board Award will be presented to two program boards from a NACA member institution, one board with a lower budget and one with a higher budget.. Applications should demonstrate why that programming board has been outstanding in the past year, with special attention paid to student participation on the board and in events.
