National Volunteer Positions: NACA® Representative to Inter-Association Leadership Educators Collaborative (ILEC)

ILEC brings together membership-based associations in higher education dedicated to the work of leadership education for shared initiatives, research, and resource development. The group aspires to promote transorganizational strategic thinking to advance leadership education in higher education by fostering meaningful dialogue and collaborations among organizations; identifying, synthesizing and advancing quality resources for leadership educators in higher education; and tracking trends and addressing voids in professional programs, services, and resources. The NACA representative to ILEC helps to achieve these objectives by developing initiatives within NACA that support the concept of campus activities professionals as leadership educators.
Actively contribute to strategic discussions during quarterly ILEC conference calls.
Actively participate in annual ILEC summit, which is held in the summer. (Travel expenses will be paid by NACA.)
Participate in ILEC work teams to advance strategic initiatives.
Work with NACA office staff and appropriate NACA volunteers to advance and promote initiatives for NACA in the area of leadership education as it pertains to campus activities professionals.
Develop webinar(s) and professional development resources for NACA® members that are relevant to leadership education in the context of campus activities.
Work with NACA® advisory volunteer, Dr. Bill Smedick, and NACA® Education and Development Coordinator to present an education session during the National Convention.
Present an annual report to the Board of Directors identifying tangible outcomes/impact.
Must have a college student leadership education background and grounding in leadership theories, models, standards and scholarship
Must have a master’s degree in leadership studies, leadership education, student development, student affairs or some related field
Must have record of attending leadership conferences/workshops/institutes related to leadership education (e.g., National Leadership Symposium, Huge Leadership Weekend, Summer Leadership Event, ILA Annual Conference, ALE Annual Conference, etc.)
Must have a background in campus activities and program development
Must be a full-time professional staff member at an NACA member institution
o Note: If the volunteer changes jobs during the position’s term, the new school must also be an NACA member and provide a statement of support from direct supervisor. The NACA Office and National Volunteer Development Coordinator must be informed of this change, and the letter of support must be received at the NACA Office within 30 days of hiring.
The ILEC representative will receive support from the Education and Research Coordinator.
