The Mid Atlantic Festival Chairperson is responsible to the Board of Directors for every aspect of managing the planning and execution of the Mid Atlantic Festival.
Assures that volunteers are up to date on association issues and assures that Board of Directors representatives are familiar with event challenges and successes.
Works in partnership with the Mid Atlantic Festival Committee to assure timely, thorough and effective training of Mid Atlantic Festival volunteers.
Communication & Meeting Management
Facilitates communication between the Festival Committee and the NACA Board of Directors. This may include participation in conference calls as determined by the Board Liaison. by Schedule and presides over regularly scheduled conference planning meetings and conference calls.
Event Planning and Logistics
In conjunction with the NACA Office assists in managing the conference budget.
Coordinates committee-wide review and selection process of ed session proposals.
Submits at least one educational program proposal for the conference by the deadline.
Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of, and ensures adherence to, NACA Policies and Procedures, the NACA Budget Processes for Regions, the Associate Member Regional Conferences Guide, minimum guidelines for regional conferences as well as other applicable laws and regulations.
Assures that NACA goals, initiatives and relevant Strategic Plan objectives are integrated with conference initiatives and position responsibilities.
Follows NACA’s Non-Discrimination, Diversity Advancement and Affirmative Action Principles to recommend others to fill available positions in the NACA leadership and takes the necessary steps to achieve a diverse Association both through the recruitment of volunteers and suggesting to the Board of Directors new or modified programs and services for the Association’s members.
The Mid Atlantic Festival Chairperson must be a full time professional staff member at an NACA member institution
The Mid Atlantic Festival Chairperson must have 2 years of experience working on a NACA Regional Conference Program Committee
The Mid Atlantic Festival Chairperson must have approval from and support of their institution prior to appointment to the position (note: support is defined as financial as well as time out of the office, etc.)
If the volunteer changes jobs during the position’s term, the new school must also be a NACA member and provide a statement of support. The NACA Office and National Volunteer Development Coordinator must be informed of this change and the new letter of support must be received at the NACA Office within 30 days of hiring.
The Mid Atlantic Festival Chairperson receives a registration waiver for the conference. Receives complimentary hotel room for the purposes of pre-conference meetings and throughout the Festival.
Term of Service
June of the current year through April 30 of the next year. As per the NACA bylaws, volunteers should not serve more than two consecutive terms in the same Regional Conference Program Committee position.
