We know, we know. You’re either too busy to think about integrating scholarly work into your day-to-day work, or it just doesn’t fit in what you do on your campus. However, NACA’s Research and Scholarship Group (RSG) believes otherwise.
Integrating scholarly work won’t add hundreds of hours to your already packed work-weeks and can be incredibly easy and applicable to your daily work. RSG, through its Research Agenda, undertakes several projects each year to increase and legitimize the work done by all of us in campus activities in research, evaluation, assessment and scholarship, adding valuable information to the national discourse in higher education. Check out the first part of this webinar series to learn about RSG’s current projects, discuss how professionals easily and meaningfully integrate scholarly work in their daily practice, and explore the foundations of assessment, evaluation, research and scholarship in student activities work.

Search committees aren’t just reviewing resumes to determine a candidate’s qualifications, they are also looking to see if a candidate will fit within their culture. A recent LinkedIn study (https://tinyurl.com/yygnnem2) of two million members’ profiles determined which soft skills are most in demand. They found that the top skills employers look for from ideal candidates include communication, organization, team work, social skills, adaptability, and creativity. Luckily, these skills are among the many strengths professionals bring to the campus activities field each year. This webinar will highlight several approaches to helping your students translate their campus activities duties into a positive job search experience.

Celebrating student organization success is a great way to round out any academic year. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), we have been hosting Student Impact Awards for many years – each with varying success. In 2018-2019, we took some additional time to review the mission purpose of the event to ensure we were best celebrating our student’s success. We found ways to fold in additional features, recruit a more diverse nomination pool, and publicly celebrate all nominees. Join us to learn more about how we Leveled Up our student impact awards and hopefully brainstorm new ideas for your campus.
