NACA Northern Plains

The following states & territories make up the NACA® Northern Plains Region:

  • The Canadian Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and western Ontario
Regional Leadership Team Structure

These seven teams (one for each region) are comprised of up to 33 school member volunteers at all levels (undergraduate students, graduate students, and professional staff) and one AAG representative, in addition to Leadership Fellows within the region and liaisons from several national teams and advisory groups. The RLTs work to advance the mission and vision of the association by creating year-round meaningful member engagement and education opportunities. Additionally, regions where a NACA conference is located assist with the planning of that conference.

Individual Awards

Sara Boatman Award

This award is given to a student, staff or associate member only when deemed appropriate and is not awarded each year. It is intended to honor a person who has made significant contributions to students, schools, the region, NACA and the field of campus activities. It is considered to be one of the highest awards bestowed upon a person in this region.

Robert W. Busch Award

The Robert W. Busch Award honors a person for their outstanding contributions to the field of campus activities and their years of service to the NACA. The award is given to a student, staff or associate member only when deemed appropriate, and is not awarded every year. It is considered to be one of the region's highest honors bestowed upon a colleague.

Bud Goldstein Lifetime Member Award

Reserved for individuals who have left the field of campus activities, the Bud Goldstein Lifetime Member Award is named for Bud Goldstein, who though "retired", continues to support the work of the Association. The award is intended for those who have made a substantial contribution to the region.

Outstanding Advisor Award

This award is presented to individuals who have completed more than five years of full-time staff experience within the field of campus activities and are currently employed at an NACA member school. Recipients must have provided outstanding service to their institutions, been significantly involved with their campus and/or community, provided creative and innovative efforts to their institution, and been involved with NACA, but not necessarily in an official position.

Outstanding New Professional Award

This award is presented annually to an individual with at least one year and not more than three years full-time staff experience in the field, with at least one year with NACA Northern Plains. The individual will demonstrate innovative service, creativity, commitment to the profession, one's own institution and NACA, as well as active involvement in regional and/or national NACA activities, and involvement in other professional organizations and/or community organizations.

Outstanding Student Award

This award recognizes students from two-year, four-year, and graduate educational settings who have made substantial contributions to the NACA Northern Plains Region while continuing to maintain their responsibilities to their institution.

Associate of the Year

This award is to recognize an outstanding associate member. Students and/or staff will nominate associate members who meet or exceed the criteria. An associate member may be a regional or national member of NACA who is an artist, agent or representative of an agency providing services to schools in the region. The criteria for nomination are: interaction with students, quality of programs, ethics, professionalism, attitude, helpfulness, promotional efforts, reliability, promoting the goals of NACA and the Marketplace.

 

Programming Awards

Celebrating the Human Spirit of Programming Award

This award is presented to an outstanding program from a member institution with a diversity or multicultural theme (i.e., arts, ethnic celebrations, history months, etc.). The program should contribute to the understanding of multicultural populations and diversity within the entire campus community. The award is based on student involvement, creativity, and the success of the program as determined by the achievement of stated goals. Supporting documentation may include posters, flyers, letters of support from the advisor and any other program material.

Innovative Programming Award

The Innovative Programming Award is presented to a member institution for an innovative program conceived by the campus. The award is based on student involvement, creativity and the success of the program, as determined by the achievement of stated program goals. Supporting documentation may include posters, flyers, letters of support from the advisor or others and any other program material.

Series Programming Award

This award is presented to a member institution with the best series or continuous program that occurs weekly, monthly or more than once during the school year. The program can be in any area of campus activities (i.e., film, lecture, etc.). The award will be based on student involvement, creativity and the success of the program, as determined by the achievement of stated goals. Supporting documentation may include posters, flyers, letters of support from the advisor or others, and any other program material.
