Navigating Employability and eXperience Tool - NACA® NEXT Advisor Cohort

Have you heard about how you can utilize NACA® NEXT as a tool for assessing student development of key employability skills? Maybe you have, but you don’t know where to start. Or maybe you have an idea of what you would like to do but would like to get constructive feedback. If so, take advantage of an opportunity to work with a team of experts who will coach you and a cohort of your peers through the first year of implementing activities for a program, department, or division. This team of coaches understands the significance of incorporating an emphasis on employability skills into overarching goals for student development. They also have experience implementing programs on their campuses and utilizing the NACA® NEXT assessment tool to track student progress. Apply by July 10, 2018 to be part of this professional development opportunity, and help your students discover ways their involvement is preparing them for their careers.

NACA® NEXT Advisor Cohort Application

As a result of participating in the 2018-2019 NACA® NEXT cohort, participants will be able to…

  • summarize the importance of helping students connect their involvement in campus activities with the development of skills employers seek;
  • situate this emphasis within the larger goals of their program, department, and/or division;
  • develop a schedule of activities related to key employability skills for a targeted student group(s);
  • utilize the NACA® NEXT tool with a targeted student audience to help assess student growth in the area of employability skills; and
  • analyze data from NACA® NEXT to draw conclusions about student progress, evaluate program outcomes, and develop a subsequent report of findings.

Overview of the Program

  • Up to ten (10) applicants will be selected to participate in a year-long project to implement activities that focus on developing key employability skills through involvement in campus activities.
  • The cohort will be led by a team of individuals with expertise on the topic of employability skills and with experience utilizing the NACA® NEXT tool.
  • After a start-up webinar open to general members, cohort members will then participate in a total of five (5) interactive, Zoom conference calls that focus on various stages of implementation, in addition to participating in ongoing discussions in the NACA® Connect community for participants.
  • At the conclusion of the program, members of the cohort will share a final report that documents their experiences in a resource that will be available in ENCORE (digital library) for NACA® members interested in implementing similar initiatives on their campuses
