Search committees aren’t just reviewing resumes to determine a candidate’s qualifications, they are also looking to see if a candidate will fit within their culture. A recent LinkedIn study (https://tinyurl.com/yygnnem2) of two million members’ profiles determined which soft skills are most in demand. They found that the top skills employers look for from ideal candidates include communication, organization, team work, social skills, adaptability, and creativity. Luckily, these skills are among the many strengths professionals bring to the campus activities field each year. This webinar will highlight several approaches to helping your students translate their campus activities duties into a positive job search experience.
Dr. Vincent Bowhay is vice president of Student Affairs at Independence Community College (KS). He previously worked in student affairs at Missouri Western State University and Fort Hays State University (KS) and also served as director of Campus Success at Campus Labs. Active in NACA, he currently serves as a NACA® NEXT Advisory Board Member. He previously served as a Student Organizations Institute faculty member, as the Student Government-East Institute Coordinator and as the Summer Institute Series Coordinator. He is also a past recipient of NACA’s Patsy Morley Outstanding Programmer Award. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Baker University (KS) and is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach.
Isaiah Collier is director of student involvement and development at Washburn University (Topeka, KS), where he oversees campus activities, fraternities and sororities, and other student life functions. He previously served as assistant dean of Student Development at Missouri Western State University. He has served as a program reviewer for NACA and holds a master’s degree in higher education from The University of Akron (OH).
