NACA® Internship Program
Interested in Being an Intern?
You do not have to be a member to apply for the NACA® Internship Program.
To apply, you must be one of the following:
An undergraduate student who is a rising junior or senior with interest in student affairs, business management, or the entertainment industry.
A graduate student enrolled in a program at the time of application to the program.
To apply for an internship, all students must create an account on the NACA® Internship Program website. Once you create an account, you must submit an online application and your résumé. There is a $25 application fee that is payable online. All applications and résumés are due by Jan. 10, 2020.
You commit to work for your host organization for a mutually agreed upon length of time—usually between mid-May through August. You also agree upon a salary and other benefits before accepting a position that is offered to you.
After the application deadline, the host sites you’ve applied to will review your application and offer phone interviews. It is up to the organization to decide on whom to offer an intern position. While most often interviews are held on the phone, some can be done in person if both parties are able. To be fair to all candidates, host organizations cannot begin making offers until the specified date. Once you accept a position, you and/or the host site representative must notify the NACA® Office of the match.

Critical Reminders for Intern Candidates:
- If you are made an offer, it is important to communicate your decision quickly so that host schools can finalize their searches or move on to other candidates. You may ask the host school for up to 24 hours before making your decision.
- Apply for internships in which you have sincere interest, in order to make the process as smooth as possible for you and the hosts.
- All internship offers and acceptance of offers must be made through the online system. This is critical so that the candidate pools and position available are up to date for other candidates and hosts.
Testimonials from Past Interns:
"I truly enjoyed my experience working at Miami University of Ohio. The staff, students, and campus community were extremely warm and welcoming. I was attracted to this position because I got the opportunity to work with two different offices, Student Activities and the Student Center operations team. This experience provided me with a new skill set, the opportunity to explore a new part of the country and the ability to see and explore a different functional area of student affairs."
- Rebecca Borovsky
“I would go back and do the same internship experience over again, if I could. I firmly believe that Dominican University gave me the best opportunities to develop myself from a student into a professional. I believe my experience at Dominican University and the skills I have developed will help me throughout my entire time within the field. I maintain contact with the professional staff at Dominican because they made me feel welcome as a worker, but more importantly to the entire community.”
- Nathan Payne
"I really enjoyed working at the Catholic University of America and how open the staff was to what I wanted to include in the trainings they had me working on. I also appreciated that the graduate student, who was there before me, was able to explain some of the office functions and provide me with the graduate student perspective."
"My NACA Internship experience was incredible! I made connections through NACA and at my host institution that will last a lifetime. This experience solidified my career choice and I can't wait to spend my life working in student affairs with genuine colleagues that push you to be the best version of yourself possible." - Channing Downing
"I worked in housing as part of my graduate assistantship so I wanted to try out a new area of student affairs! Student Activities and Organizations opened my eyes to a new style of programming and a different lifestyle. coming from being a live-in staff member, it was a breathe of fresh air to try out a different area. NACA made the process easy to apply and ECU worked with me to set up interview and make sure I was prepared for my move to Greenville." -
