Regional Business Manager Job Description

Reports to: Association Treasurer/Regional Coordinator
General Responsibilities: The Regional Business Manager is responsible for the region’s fiscal management and its adherence to Association fiscal policies

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of, and ensures adherence to NACA policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, applicable portions of P&P, the NACA Budget Processes for Regions manual, and the Associate Member Regional Conferences Guide, as well as other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Works with the NACA Office to monitor the regional chart of accounts, including all income and expenses pertaining to regional activities and programs.
  • Works with the Regional Coordinator and, where appropriate, the Regional Conference Coordinator, to review/make suggestions to the regional budget prepared by the Office within the appropriate timelines in preparation for review and approval by the Finance Committee of the NACA Board of Directors. 
  • Verifies and assigns line item numbers to all accounts payable as processed by the NACA Office.
  • Serves as Treasurer for all regional conferences and events, and supervises/coordinates the collection of any monies on-site at any regional activity, ensures the proper reporting of those monies and is responsible for submitting those monies to the NACA Office immediately upon the conclusion of each activity. Whenever possible, the RBM should be physically present at all activities during which money is collected to ensure its proper collection and reporting. If the RBM is unable to be present at an activity during which money is collected, he/she should appoint an authorized designee from the staff members of the RLT. The RBM is responsible for ensuring the designee is appropriately trained in NACA financial procedures and is able to appropriately account for the monies collected.
  • Serves as the volunteer supervisor for the registration coordinators for any regional event requiring registration. Forwards candidates for these positions to the Chair of the Board for approval. The RBM or his/her authorized designee from the staff members of the RLT must be present at registration to ensure the proper collection and reporting of monies received. The RBM is responsible for ensuring the designee is appropriately trained in NACA financial procedures, and is able to appropriately account for the monies collected.
  • Informs and educates regional leadership on financial policies and procedures.
  • Assumes the duties of the Regional Coordinator in the absence of the Regional Coordinator and the Regional Coordinator-Elect.
  • Is eligible for bonding.
  • Integrates NACA goals, initiatives and relevant strategic plan objectives in all aspects of position responsibilities.
  • Attends all regularly scheduled regional meetings, the regional conference and ensures that any other regional activity at which money is collected is staffed by a volunteer versed in appropriate financial procedures and in the timelines for forwarding financial information to the NACA Office.
  • Follows NACA’s Non-Discrimination, Diversity Advancement and Affirmative Actions Principles to recommend others to fill available positions in the NACA leadership and takes the necessary steps to achieve a diverse Association both through the recruitment of volunteers and suggesting to the Board of Directors new or modified programs and services for the Association’s members.
  • Adheres to minimum guidelines for regional conferences.

Term of Office: Two years, beginning on May 1. The Regional Business Manager may not serve consecutive terms
Qualifications:
The Regional Business Manager must be a full-time professional staff member at a member institution.
The Regional Business Manager must have approval from and support of their institution prior to applying for the position. (note: support is defined as financial as well as time out of the office, etc.)
