NACA East Coast Higher Education Research Scholarship

The NACA East Coast Higher Education Research Scholarship was established in 1995 by the former NACA East Coast Region. The scholarship provides funds for research projects designed to add to the college student personnel knowledge base, particularly those projects which focus on campus activities, address issues challenging student affairs practitioners and/or issues challenging higher education as they relate to campus activities. The fund provides up to $500 to be awarded annually. Scholarship selection is made in the summer with funds distributed to recipients in early fall. High school students are not eligible.

DEADLINE
Materials must be received in the NACA Office by June 15.

CRITERIA
Applicants for the NACA East Coast Higher Education Research Scholarship must show that their research will add to the college student personnel knowledge base, particularly campus activities, or address issues challenging student affairs practitioners or higher education as they relate to campus activities. NACA membership or involvement is not a criterion for selection. High school students are not eligible.

Applicants must submit the following materials so that they are received in the NACA Office no later than June 15. If you are unable to submit any of these materials online, please fax or mail to the NACA Office, attention Dionne Ellison. Fax: 803-749-1047 Mailing Address: 13 Harbison Way, Columbia, SC, 29212. Please include a cover sheet with your name, school and email address.

  • A completed scholarship application form
  • A written statement from the applicant detailing:
    • A statement of the problem
    • Purpose of the project
    • Plan and timeline to address the question
    • Anticipated results, including types of evidence to indicate objectives were achieved
    • A statement of the project’s anticipated contribution to the profession
    • Proposed budget that identifies anticipated income from all sources
    • Qualifications of those conducting research
    • Plans to evaluate the project
  • A letter of support from applicant’s supervisor, major professor, department head or other Appropriate individual, indicating the applicant has support for and permission to conduct research.
